Amélia Muge

Amélia Muge: Singer and composer, with several albums released and many songs written also for other singers. Linked to music, theatre, dance, animation cinema, illustration, literature, multimedia. Partnerships as a composer: Hélia Correia, Maria do Rosário Pedreira, João Monge, among others.  She composes for the poems of Fernando Pessoa, Natália Correia, Ramos Rosa, Camões, Baudelaire, Paul Élouard, among others.  Play and sing her songs: Ana Moura, Camané, Mísia, Cristina Branco, Pedro Moutinho, Gaiteiros de Lisboa, Melech Mechaya, among others. In a cappella singing she collaborates with Cramol, Moçoilas, Segue-me à Capela, Sopa de Pedra, Maria Monda, Outra Voz. As an interpreter she participates in concerts and/or in the discography of other musicians and singers such as Fausto and José Mário Branco. Her albums appear in the lists of the best of the year in newspapers such as Público, Diário de Notícias, Blitz or Expresso. The CD “Todos os Dias” (1994) is included in the “100 Best Albums of all time of Portuguese Music”, edition of the newspaper Público . “Taco-a-taco” receives the Zeca Afonso prize (1996).  International partnerships : Amancio Prada, Bulgarian Voices of Pirin Folk Ensemble, Elena Ledda, Lucilla Galeazzi, Ricardo Tesi, Carlo Rizzo, Kronos Quartet, among others. She published “A Monte” (1998), “Não Sou daqui” (2002), “O Dono do Nada” (Theatre – 2005), “Uma Autora 202 canções” (2009). She published, with Michales Loukovikas, “PERIPLUS, Deambulações Luso-Gregas” (2012) being the best album of the year (Expresso and Público), one of the 3 best (SPAutores) , one of the 10 best (Mundofonias, Spain) and nominated for the 10 best international albums (Folkroots).  

  She is the author of the children’s play: O Dono do Nada (Centro Olga Cadaval and Teatro Maria Matos) with artistic partnerships with António Jorge Gonçalves (Digital Design) and Adriana Queiroz (Choreography).  

 Charles Cros Academy Award (France): CD Ruelles (2013).  Book “Amélia com versos de Amália” (2014) with premiere at Culturgest.   

 As author and artistic director, she produced the Jony Mitchel tribute concert with eight Portuguese singers including Luisa Sobral, Márcia and Manuela Azevedo and also: De VIVA VOZ, o Canto profundo à Capela with four of the most significant Portuguese Chapel Singing groups. Edits with Michales Loukovikas “ARCHiPELAGOS, Passagens”(2018) making dozens of presentations inside and outside the country in partnership with museums, cultural associations, libraries, universities, among others and having the collaboration of ethnomusicologists, literary critics, journalists, designers, musicians, writers, among others. In 2019 she is a guest artist with Patxi Andion, Sopa de Pedra, Segue-me à Capela, André M. Santos; she composes for the CD by Pedro Moutinho “Um fado ao Contrário” and writes for the CD-Book by Filipe Raposo, Ocre with whom she also performs a tribute concert to Hermínio Monteiro; she participates in the Literary Festivals: Correntes Descritas (Póvoa do Varzim) and Festival Literário do Douro (Vila Real); makes the libretto of “Sinfonia da Liberdade- Sobreviveremos “by André Santos.  In 2020 she does the artistic direction and is the author of several songs of Carla Pires’ album, Cartografado, she is the author of CD Lina and Raul and she is the artistic director of the children’s play dedicated to Amália Rodrigues: “Assim devera eu ser” (Centro Cultural de Belém).  

 In 2021 she participates in Camané’s new CD and produces her new work: AMÉLIAS with edition in 2022.
