NANCY VIEIRA INVITES FRED MARTINS – THE PROJECT

The swaying of the waters, which travels in waves, easily crosses the ocean and goes from Brazil to Cape Verde and vice versa. Nancy Vieira and Fred Martins know this well. Nancy is a veritable living treasure of the islands that gave us morna and funaná, coladera and so much more, the voice of a creole as universal as it is sweet, as sensual as it is modern, who has recorded some of the most important records of the culture that Unesco now recognises as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, such as Manhã Florida or No Amá. And Fred Martins is another treasure, this one from across the ocean, composer, award-winning guitarist, applauded by the public and critics, respected by his peers.

Together, Nancy and Fred started by recording, in this Lisbon that unites so many, “O Samba Me Diz”, united by the producer Paulo Borges. This was the song they also performed together in a television special, “Music is My Country”, recently shown on RTP 1. And in that sweet samba swing where Nancy and Fred met, a complicity was born and is now prepared to be translated into a concert, an intimate duet of two giant talents that take the bossa and Cape Verdean rhythms and give them new nuances, new accents, new sweetness. Music of extreme quality, of total sincerity, capable of grabbing bodies and hearts, performed by two artists who are as genuine as they are universal. It couldn’t be better.
